I used to love 5 Dudley but haven't tried Piccolo yet, which went into that space. It's tough to find a decent but quick meal for a value on the boardwalk. The restaurants know they have a view and a steady stream of tourists. They don't have to work that hard on the food.

I live close to Venice Beach and agree with you. We went to Delizia twice when it opened last year, and it was a bad experience each time: expensive food that is so-so at best, + bad service with an attttude. The Figtree, Candle and Waterfront cafes are not great either, though better. The best place is Piccolo Ristorante just off the Boardwalk on Dudley. Danny's Deli, which recently opened on Windward, is not bad either.
