Well, here are some Chicago restaurants which (in my experience) serve a good steak:

Vivo (www.vivo-chicago.com)
Kiki's Bistro (www.kikisbistro.com) -- steak frites
Cyrano's Bistrot (www.cyranosbistrot.com) -- steak frites

As you can see, I like how the French cook a steak.

What are your favorites in Chicago? I had the largest steak I have ever seen at Gene and Georgetti's--a very old-school Chicago steakhouse.

My impression with California cuisine is that few in CA know how to cook a steak. During our trip to LA and San Diego last year, we enjoyed excellent seafood, but every piece of beef we ordered (even at very highly regarded and expensive restaurants) was quite mediocre.

Come to Chicago, where you can get REAL prime steaks and chops ... and for a lot less than $75, too.
